Lounging At Louisiana Purchase
Louisiana Purchase is the newest addition to both Grind & Prosper Hospitality and the North Park food scene. I love when restaurants opt for a location that is off the beaten path. There was so much buzz around the opening of this establishment that I couldn’t wait to try it! First up was the flavorful blend of land and sea, Crab Stuffed Chicken Skin. A thin delicious crispy piece of fried chicken skin atop a bit size crab cake with goat cheese and a root veg marinara. Next, was on to Alligator Andouille Cheesecake, which I was first a tad skeptical, because I’d never had it before and it was exquisite! This dish lived up to, no exceeded, its reputations. The alligator was tender and the cheesecake soft & flaky with a savory crawfish cream. I’d say this is by far the most interesting and best tasting entrèe in town, yup I said it! It’s cool that in addition to having a solid menu, Chef Quinnton has a couple weekly specials. When I was there I decided on the Fried Boudin Balls + Tasso Butter Cream which is for sure a must try. I couldn’t resist trying Mr. Q’s BBQ Shirmp, head on tail on jumbo shrimp in New Orleans style bbq sauce with sweet potato cornbread. And I used that cornbread to sop up the remaining epic bbq sauce. If you’re looking for a cool new happy hour spot you’re in luck too because Wed-Sun they offer one of the best around. With my $7 cocktails such as Old Fashioned, Mojito, and more as well food specials like Crawfish Mac Skillet and Biscuits and Wings. Oh yeah and I can’t wait to return for the launch of their brunch menu on the weekend April 20!
