Locals and visitors to the East Village neighborhood can now enjoy sharable plates, draft beer and a lineup of innovative cocktails, all in the cozy confines of WhipHand American Brasserie + Beer Bank. I had a chance to check it out and it’s exactly what was missing in East Village. WhipHand aims to let customers take the experience into their own hands through 24 self-serve draft beers taps, along with a full cocktail bar serving up some unique libations. Ah, and the food is by far some of the tastiest around thanks to Culinary Director Chef Quinnton “Q” Austin by way of New Orleans. Chef Q’s past experience spans the globe with French, Caribbean and Italian exposure, spicing up his ever-evolving repertoire. You can taste the both the passion and experience in every dish. Of all the delicious bites it was the Lobster Roll, sautéed in garlic butter, with jalapeño slaw and crystal aioli that I can’t stop dreaming about. The opening of WhipHand will help update and elevate East Village to give the vibrant, young professionals a comfortable, urban space to gather and enjoy good food, drink and company.
