A Palatable Ponsaty's
Hands down brunch is my absolute favorite so when I find a new "must try spot" I can't wait to share it! Actually, I keep a list of my top 10 and rarely update it because I'm such a brunch snob. Brunch is more than just food, it's where best friends meet to catch up, couples swap family introductions, work colleagues begin to strategize the upcoming week, and so much more. That being said, there's many variables to consider when deciding where to brunch like location, view, menu, and entertainment. Ponsaty's has been on my radar for a couple weeks now and finally my schedule allowed for an afternoon of enjoyment. Ponsaty's is nestled inside the heart of the fabulous community, Rancho Santa Fe. The restaurant sits on a corner and has one of the most well designed outdoor seating areas I've seen in town. You're able to enjoy the sun without feeling like it's baking you. There was no detailed spared in creating this French-Mediterranean establishment. Gorgeous croc-embossed leather chairs are pulled up to masterfully crafted wooden tables. Modern chandeliers adorn the ceiling and my absolute favorite is the private velvet booth, yes it's EVERYTHING! I'd fallen in love with this place even before I had a bite to eat. After seeing and tasting the fabulous spread my love instantly transformed into an obsession. Short rib, lamb, beets, oysters, smoked salmon and egg benedicts, shrimp cocktail, salmon tartare, and the mouth-watering list goes on. The buffet has been curated so beautifully and offered the perfect amount of variety without feeling overwhelming. As if the cuisine and bottomless mimosas weren't mind-blowing enough, guest enjoyed being serenaded by one of the most impressive musicians I've heard sing covers. His smooth transitions between the iconic Sade ballads and modern Top 40's favorites left me in awe! Oh and let's not forget that all happened while playing either the piano or keyboard. Until next time...
