Stefano Pilati x Zara Collaboration
The Zara collection designed by Stefano Pilati certainly carries a refined air, with pieces that display his expert tailoring and attention to modern menswear essentials. However, for those familiar with Pilati’s tenure at YSL, the collection may feel a bit underwhelming in terms of pushing sartorial boundaries. The cardigans, while versatile, lacked the cooler, more dynamic touches one might expect from Pilati, leaning toward the safe rather than the innovative. There’s a certain polish, but the pieces don’t quite rise to the high-fashion aspirations often associated with his name.
The trousers, too, leave room for improvement, as they miss the mark on the perfect balance between structure and fluidity that Pilati is known for. They fall into a more predictable space, rather than offering the forward-thinking shapes or exquisite detailing that would make them stand out. While the collection is certainly wearable and will likely appeal to a wide audience, those hoping for a stronger nod to Pilati’s YSL days might feel that this collection holds back just a bit too much. However, a major kudos for using Gisele Bundchen as the muse!
