Navigating Nashville
It’s been almost two years to date since I posted. I’m glad to be back writing, traveling, and most of all styling, though the latter hadn’t changed much. So, I decided to accompany my friend Dom to Nashville. Nashville has been on my radar for years but was never at the top of my list. You know we all have that “Where I want to travel” list and Nashville always sat between #12-15. So with my friend attending a wedding in the sister city, Memphis, I took it as a sign from the universe. The moment we landed it was non-stop good times and food. The live music and energy are unmatched and the food, ohhhhhhh the food! On our first night in the city, after landing at midnight, we stopped at a Honkey Tonk bar (there are several) and spotted our first of many Elvis’. That night we sang along with the band and found that tequila and lemonade is officially our vacation drink. Since it was my first time there I had to hit some of the touristy/instafamous spots, first up White Limozeen. The place was the perfect mix of beauty, quirkiness, and style. Think Consortium Holdings but in the south. It was bold splashes of pink, Dolly Parton paintings, ornate decor, and a wondrous view of downtown. I would plop this hotspot on your list of places to swing by for a sunset cocktail. I found myself getting lost in the city’s beauty and artistic design walking in excess of three miles a day. The music highlight came on the second to last night when I walked into a bar by the name of Snitch. The band had me in a trance for over two hours with the 70’s rock vibe and impeccable style. Think Jimmie Hendrix and Led Zepplin covers by models dressed in Saint Laurent. It was absolutely glorious! After two hours of an iconic performance and several Manhattans, it was time to find food. I haven’t craved or had a hotdog in years but the aroma from Daddy Dogs came wafting into the bar and I couldn’t resist. A hotdog dresses in cream cheese, bacon, pickles, grilled onions, and jalapenos for the win, aka Big Daddy. Nashville was just what I needed and I left feeling energized and inspired. Sidenote… I also used this time to decide on a new airline home and I couldn’t be happier with Alaska. The customer experience is unmatched from the cuisine to the extra leg room and if you’re a lounge kind of person you won’t be disappointed. Now that I’ve relit my travel flame, where to next?
