Heavenly Himitsu
Last night I had the pleasure of enjoying the newest sushi spot in San Diego, called Himitsu. The experience can be summed up in two words, Simply Divine! I've had my favorite sushi spot for about 7 years now and after one visit to Himitsu it has officially been replaced! Immediately entering you notice how intimate the dining area is, being able to sit only approximately 32-36 and the bar just 8 people. I'm fully on board with this micro-restaurant trend as it provides a more personable experience. When ordering sake you are able to select your glass from a beautifully crafted assortment. Upon sitting at the bar I instantly became friends with sushi chef Robert and allowed him to curate the night's tasting. The spicy edamame was the perfect appetizer to prepare my palate for what was to come. Each entree, while so different, was equally amazing making it extremely tough to pick out a favorite. However, if I had to choose a couple of MVP's it would be the Uni, Chopped Toro, and Garlic Shrimp. The Uni for its unique texture being wrapped in seaweed, Chopped Toro for the extreme freshness, and Garlic Shrimp for the exquisite seasoning. Other items I went insane over were the Rib-eye Katsu Sando, Soft Shell Crab, and Seared Scallop (shocking I enjoyed this I know lol). Warning once you've tasted Himitsu it's implausible you'll be able to enjoy sushi anywhere else.
